Yemenite Saif ?
I recently got this saif and after looking at all of the similar swords, I'm guessing that this sword is from Yemen. Further guesses are that it has a European blade and that the scabbard has been recovered within the last 50 years. I haven't a clue why there is a brass insert in the tip.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! |

Very likely.
The handle reminds popular Yemenite handles with karabela-liked pommel and the diagonal wrapping of the scabbard was also popular in Yemen. One can call it a “ variant”, IMHO. |

Thanks for the input; any idea what the brass insert at the end of the tip is about?

Those brass dots on the tips are apparently added later for value. But anyway, a great piece with a lovely blade!
