Default Out of Africa ?

I bought this thing on a fleemarket, because i was impressed by it's archaic look.First i thought it was a drum, but it is a rounded container .It was said that it came from Africa. The corpus is made from wood ,the bottom and cover from hide and it is decorated with leather strips. It is about 27 cm high and has a diameter from 14 cm .Perhaps here is someone who knows something about it's age , origin and use ?

Hi Akanthus,
Interesting old piece... Maybe a container for Blowgun Darts or suchlike?
The placement of the handle would suggest that it is not a storage container, but is designed to carry something.

Dear Sir,

This seems to be a Turkana milk container, Kenya.
