Hello!
hello all,
sorry for not introducing myself earlier, i was abit excited about translating inscriptions rather then introducing myself. I am Abdullatif Alnakkas, an arms collector from Kuwait. I started about a year ago but always been a fan of arms. Currently my collection is too small to show (or maybe am just too worried about finding that alot of it is modern production!.. i certainly hope not ) but as soon as i feel its worth showing, i'll add it. I would be happy to translate anything arabic if you want, just send them my way Regards, A.Alnakkas |

Hello A.Alnakkas and welcome to the forum. I wouldn't worry too much about finding a modern production piece in your collection as I'm sure that more than one of us here on the forum have had the same happen to us when we first started collecting. I know that I have. Please post pictures as soon as you feel comfortable.

Hi Abdullatif, good to see you joined this forum, it's a treasure.
Still working on the docs I was going to send you. Can't seem to get the files small enough for e-mail. Emanuel |

So we meet again
Good to see you over here. Don't worry about not introducing yourself, it is our fault really, we should have started a welcome thread for you! Are your tastes in weapons in one particular area, or a general collecting of the field? Best Gene W. |

wa'alaykum elsalam Dom
thanks all for the generous welcome. To Atlantia, I am mainly interested in items from the Islamic world (i do acknowledge the difference of cultures but its a general term to get things by) mainly; Arabic, Persian and Turkish but i also like Indian and afghan items. Lately also developing an interest for Morrocan items. i also would like to own some Kukri's. I would say that my goal is to acquire a Yataghan atm, but its rather difficult as there is maybe around 3 dealers here in kuwait who deals in antiques generally. also most of their items are either fakes or badly categorized items or with crazy prices (you can find some real great stuff in a cheap price but you can also find mediocre items for extremely high prices) I never tried trading or buying things online though this week i started bidding on ebay and perhaps i can use the Swap forum here it looks alot easier to use then Ebay. Thanks again Gents A.Alnakkas |

WELCOME TO THE FORUM.
THERE IS MUCH TO LEARN FOR US ALL. THE INTERNET CAN BE A VERY GOOD PLACE TO COLLECT BUT ALSO PUTS THE BUYER AT A DISADVANTAGE AS ALL YOU HAVE TO GO BY IS PICTURES. AS TIME PASSES YOU WILL GET TO KNOW DEALERS WHO CAN ALWAYS BE TRUSTED BUT MAY RUN ACROSS A FEW WHO CAN NOT. DO PAY ATTENTION TO FEEDBACK AND BEWARE OF ITEMS WITH BAD PICTURES AND POOR OR NO FEEDBACK. GOOD LUCK ON YOUR COLLECTING. |
