Hello All!

Other than seller's say-so, what makes it specifically Tunisian rather than more general (and nebulous) "North African"?

Hello Ariel!

Well, Nort African is probably a better description it roughly resembles a Tunisian dagger that I saw on Oriental-Arms but it might be from Morocco, Algeria; or Tunisia. Once I find a link on Oriental-Arms I will post the link. Of course a little I hope so never hurts.

P.S.- It slightly also resembles a Flissa, until I get it and can examine it and post better pictures, I can't be sure. i take what most sellers say with a grain of sand!

Aurangzeb, in this case the seller is one of the respected forum members here, and I personally have no reason to doubt his judgement. Of course, it is always great to know not only where a certain piece is attributed to, but also why there exactly.
Regards,
Teodor

I am not implying any malicious intent; just interested whether there are specific distinctions between Tunisian and, say, Libyan daggers.

This is great, this means that I don't have to beat my brains out trying to find where it came from. This is wonderful news that it is Tunisian and that the seller is a forum member so I can trust their judgement! I hope he will notice this tread and say why it is Tunisian.

A kard also seems likely, I did not know about North African kards or that kards chould be curved.

Hello All!

I have been doing a great seal of looking into the Tunisian dagger and I still cannot decide wheather it is a flyssa or kard. But the most persisting question to me is is this knife "Berber" or "Arab" for though it roughly takes the form of a berber flyssa very little of Tunisia's population defines themselves as Berber. But I never heard of a Arab Flyssa only a Berber Flyssa.
Any help whould be welcome.

Mark:

The links have expired on eBay. Do you have pictures you can post so we can remember what these knives are?
