persian ? sipar shield
Hello dear members,
I got this steel shield and wanted to share it with you, not too large, 31cm / 12,2 inches in diameter. I think it comes from persia-Iran more than India a 19th century sipar ?? Relief under the rust indicate there is/was koftgari work, I have to remove it ( and not overclean it...) |

19th-20th century, and still a nice example of such. The current product is not as well made, so I would label this as vintage and use it as a centre piece with some swords or other weapons behind it in the clasical manner.my own is brass, that at one time was silvered, now only remaining on the back after many years of being polished, not by me I hasten to add.

Hello,
Thank you all for you comment !! Yes David, really nice decorated wall with interesting items !! ( but the paperwall... without offending !!) is the recent dating and indian origin due to the fabric strip and pad ? Quality seems not that bad as David mentioned, the added border is thick and well done. once cleaned, for me it's really better... nice koftgari under the rust, sad to let it like that... an arabic script in the center ? |
