Default Blawong

Hello to e'body,

I am new to this forum and eager to learn. Have been reading a lot of members information dealing about krisses but haven't come across a thread about BLAWONG.
Wouldn't it be interesting to share pics and knowledge about these 'random' items.
Let me introduce my 3 Blawong.

Nr. 1 : Origin JAVA, very old heavy board which colours have faded away. Which persons (any of the Pandava brothers?) are depicted here and what about the creatures underneath?
In the center part obvious traces of (more recent) scratching but why?

Nr. 2: Origin JAVA, also old and good patina. The image carries a keris on his back. Used to be a colourful panel as well but hardly visible anymore.
Interesting detail: at the reverse side a rough carved 'sketch' is seen.

Nr. 3: Origin BALI or MADURA? Mount Meru is symbolised in the outline This openwork carvings show holy Peacock and a Blawong on top. A work dating back to WW 2?

Would welcome any comment and / or any contributions.

Carla

Welcome to the forum KLUNGKLUNG. Nice boards. Try plugging "blawong" to our search engine for a few more threads on the subject.
