Default Chinese Drum

I am wondering if anyone can comment on this Chinese drum that has been in my family for years. Can anyone translate the writing and estimate for me how old it is? How would this have been used? On what occasions? I would like to know more about it. Thank you.

Jung Yi Tong, loyal righteous organization. Probably a Tong drum for lion dancing, like at Chinese New Year.

Need better pic of the drumhead. One character says "hawk", probably part of a name.
