Default North African sabre?

Any idea what this one is? I put what I thought was a very low bid on it since I wasn't really interested but I ended up winning. The cross guard and scabbard remind me a little of a Takouba, but it's obviously not one itself. I assume it isn't very old and the blade looks like it came from scrap metal as well as the rusty utility knife that fits into the front of the sheath. There appears to be an eyelash motif on the blade.

Edit: I should add that the "north african" attribution is just a guess on my part due to the similarity to a Takouba. The seller had no idea what it was.

Edit 2: I found a very similar blade on Ebay that the seller identified as being Tuareg from Mali.

Thanks for the reply. Too bad on it being tourist, but at least it doesn't look too bad now that I've cleaned it up.
