puukko for comment
I have recently purchased this one from an antiques store. the seller does not know anything about it.
i know it's called a puukko knife and it's from finland. deer antler sheath and handle, carbon steel peened tang blade. upon googling images of puukkos, most of what i see have leather on the sheaths for about half the length of it. mine is all antler. can anybody approximate the age on this? and probable maker/ or province of origin? or any other you can tell me about this little blade? (overall length on the knife is about 7 inches.) upon cleanup, the blade seems to show a laminated edge. i have yet to polish and etch it to confirm. thank you so much in advance. PBH |

Beautiful Sammi style Puukko. Carved and scrimshaw on reindeer antler. Fairly rare and older ones (like this) are pretty expensive.
Nice find. No way to know exact maker unless it is inscribed on blade. estimate age around late 19th-early 20th C, Rich |
