16thC Excavated dagger with the find place
For comment this excavated left hand dagger,
It has a fluted pommel, downturned quillion and ring guard. circa 28,5 cm. double edged blade marked with the place of excavation: BARNWELL ABBEY CAMBRIDGE. |

Very nice item. Somewhere is the sword that went along with this dagger, certainly with the same pommel shape.

Lovely item, clearly once a great piece but when & who excavated it? Does it have provenance or is it just sellers paint on the blade?

Thank you for your comment I bought this dagger in an auction sale and no more information was available, the only thing I could say that is that this inscription is correct about period so there is some possibilities that the place of find too.. but nobody can confirm and we will never know. also the size from the dagger is 40 cm ( 28.5 cm was only the blade) Best Cerjak |
