Default A KNIFE FOR I.D

An old friend has had this for years and recently asked my opinion on it.

To me It looks like some sort of Home Made, cut down carving knife with a quasi-military scabbard. But then, Perhaps not ?

We would appreciate any comments / opinions.

Thanks
Royston
