Default Book on Manchu archery

Hi guys,

Some of you may remember my talk in Timonium in 2008 on Manchu archery.

10 years later I'm still greatly interested in the culture and I was asked to be guest editor for a publication of Debtelin. (Debtelin is Manchu for "book")

The project involved working with some 20 translators from various universities in translating -often for the first time- primary Manchu source material on archery and its deployment in battle. It was a joy to put it all together and write the introduction for this nice compilation of research.

Now, it's finally done! The publication can be viewed and ordered here:

(Note: I'm not making any money on the sales of this book. The proceedings will go the non-profit Manchu foundation, and will be used for the advancement of studies of Manchu language and culture. See: https://manchufoundation.org)

Hi Peter.

Thanks for posting the information about your new book and for donating the proceeds to a worthy cause. However, because this is a commercial announcement, it belongs in the Swap Forum. I am sending it there with a link in the Ethnographic Forum so that folks visiting there will find it.
