Default Blade of roiling water

Just got this Palembang keris! Not a "high keris" but very pleasing!

The blade was washed Javanese style, which kind of "obliterated" the finer forging lines which were visible when it was in its original state, but the end-result was kind of unexpected - the pamor looked like water in a roiling river! It's very interesting to look at.

Blade is very strong, 13.5inch long, and keen of edge still, which would suggest that it is not very old. The hilt is another highlight of this piece. The curve in the batang is not an optical illusion; it is really there. Normally, Palembang keris sheaths have straight batang.

Hello Kai,
Nice keris!
I think it is normal for a Palembang piece to have a curing batang (based on my experience).

Hello Kai
I too have a palembang keris with curving batang. The curve is not huge but it is definitely there. Interestingly my keris has a quite similar pamor, you can see waves and whirlpools along the blade.

Just went back to look at all my Palembang kerises' pics, and guess what, all of them had straight batang! So this is my 1st curved batang for a Palembang. I guess we learn something new every day. thanks all for sharing your experience as well.
