Knife for ID please
I bought this knife on holiday in Kent about 15 years ago. Just re-found it in amongst some bits n bobs having not seen it in quite a few years. given it a bit of a clean up, remember it was old and grubby when I bought it and I kind of lost interest in it once I'd cleaned it up and so its been a bit forgotten since then.
Looks indian, but I've not seen another one like it. Its well made with a finely ground thick steel blade, horn handle with bone pegs, brass mounts etc. Anyone know where they come from or if they are just last quarter 20thC for the tourists? Thanks Gene |

That is a very fancy Indian or Nepalese hunting bowie style knife late 19th or early 20th century. Probably made for a British Officer.

Here is a link to more
they are still being produced, those are current production models. they have been asked by someone to make one like mine, and i've seen a couple very similar there since but not quite the same. try a search here also on 'nepali bowie', some discussion in earlier threads... |
