Beautiful example of early 18thC Austro-Hungarian heavy cavalry broadsword (pallasch).Usually they were inscribed “Vivat” somebody. The scabbard is beautifully decorated with grotesque face of green man. The tip has a barb which we have discussed endlessly in this forum about what its purpose could be. Pictures from Eduard Wagner, [/I]Cut and Thrust Weapons [/I](1967).
