Default Penai before and after rework

I got this penai for small money. The first pictures were bad, but in a real view it was only glue from tape. The rest of the tape seems to be tin or lead foil, not aluminium. It was not possible to remove with gasoline or something else, I need to scratch it of with a razor blade. But after 2 h, not so much the result was much better than before.

Thumbs up

Hello Thomas,

This is a really good sumara - congrats!

The tin is supposed to be a sign of status, i.e. having taken a head... Unfortunately, tin is not stable and deteriorates sooner or later. Be careful when working on this piece and try to store it with as little fluctuations (humidity, temperature, etc.) as possible.

Here are some good examples:

Just in case you get bored with it, give me a call, please.

Regards,
Kai

Hello Thomas.

I must say that the result is nice and the sumara looks very good now it is cleaned. the blade is also very nice. do you have some more pictures of the blade.

But if I understand well, you removed the original old tin foil ?
From historical view that is a bit of a pity.

I see that the sikin panjang on the first 2 pictures has some silver foil on the scabbard.
Just give me a PM when you decide to scratch that of

A serious question : can you post the sikin handle in the "aceh crowns" thread ?

Thanks for teply. The tin foil was gone as I got the piece.there was only one little rest of it to see that it was tin. I got it like you see it on the pictures only with the glue left. So I decided to remove the glue.

I will make that pictures during the day.
