Default Unknow sword, maybe indian?

This sword belongs to a friend and we are interested in identify correctly the sword. The sword was bought in Italy.
My first impression was indian, but Im not sure about origin and age.
Could you help me ?

Not sure about the scabbard, but the sword has a central Asian look like Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and the rest.

It looks like a Shashqa variant to me as well, re-using a military blade.

I suspect it is a composite put-together sword to resemble central Asian shashka. The handle is likely taken from old serving cutlery knife.
