While not an area I have often studied, it seems I recall that while these are of course most formidable looking, they were not always used as 'weapons'. The elaborate designs with subtle to almost erratic variation might have lent to these being a sort of 'bearing' type item used by prominent figures or chiefs as symbols of authority.
It seems in some cases some of these even served as currency? Thank you Luc for sharing this and hopefully there are readers out there still who might wonder as well. |
