Good day,
I just bought this keris. It looks like an ensemble that has been together for some time. I would like to get some feedback on this keris. - Scabbard seems Sumatra to me. right ? - Blade, Sumatra or peninsula ? - hilt. Bugis to me, or not ? - Should there be a pendokok, and if so, what kind of type. Thanks and best regards, Willem |

Others with more knowledge than me will doubtless chime in, but to my eye it looks like a Straits piece. More info here:

Hello,
Just my personal impression but I could be wrong: . The blade and sheath are not originally matching (the blades sinks in the slot on the front side) . The blade does not look Sumatrese . The Bugis hilt and sheath could be from Sumatra Riau islands Regards |

Hi Willem,
very bad piece but I will be neat and you can send it to me that you don't need to look to it again! But seriously a very nice keris and Laowang could be correct, look also this thread: http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showth...4&page=2&pp=30 I don't feel prepared to say if this keris have the original sarung like you think or it is a composite ensemble but I think that you have hold enough keris in your hand to decide this. Regards, Detlef |
