In all likelihood, this is an arbalest bolt. The fact that it depicts the coat of arms is only giving more status to this subject. If we consider that the object was found in the Crimea, then in all likelihood it relates to the Genoese colonies in the northern Black Sea region, called Gazaria, in the 13th - 15th centuries. Proceeding from this, it is easy to conclude that the coat of arms belongs to the influential aristocratic Doria family, which played an important role in the Genoese republic and spread its influence to the Genoese colony of Cuff and the Trebizond Empire.
