Hi Tim,
tried to find out about the 'pegasus' trademark. I assumed that it possibly could have been a British machete origionally. The only info. I could find was that this mark was first reg. in the '50's, but what the product was I have no idea. The numbers also are interesting I thought at first that the '4' was either next to a '6' or '0'. Apparently, in the '50's knife manufactureres would stamp the blade with classification no's/letters which showed the quality/type of steel used. 440C for instance is stainless, however poor quality stainless was just stamped 440 and tended to tarnish. could the number on your blade be 40? perhaps the first 4 was machined/ ground out as its shape was modified?
