There is obviouisly a biological aspect with collecting blades.
Need to brush up my knowledge here, it seems.

From what I read, bone should smell like burnt hair when touched...

Khyber Knife / Hilt Material?

Gents,

here is a Khyber knife that I received from a forum member - Thanks again!
I have tried to determine the hilt material but am still uncertain.
The hot needle method did not really work....

It has some features of professional production.

All the aspects you mentioned, the plaster, the "Dr.", the shape of the
blade may point into a medical or surgical direction.
Maybe a large gutting knife?

Finally, I was able to get the sword at a price...

Finally, I was able to get the sword at a price that is not too risky.
The sword weighs 910 gramms and finds its balance some 8cm from the hilt.
Definitely a reworked piece but hopefully not...

It is over 4mm thick on top and very stable.
