I've seen these described as sailors' knives made...

I've seen these described as sailors' knives made in 'the Spanish style'. A fine retrieval from any scrap heap.

There are certainly Indian-made variations on the 1845 Pattern Sabre. I think I had one for the State of Kotar that replaced the Victoria Regina in the cartouche for a more local symbol.

The fuller and curve don't quite fit the 1796...

The fuller and curve don't quite fit the 1796 troopers' sabre so perhaps it was an officer's 'fighting' version, devoid of decoration. Certainly, very similar and quite possibly mid-Victorian.
