chmorshuutz - it does have some resemblance to a Bangkung blade, could be a later version.

Drac2k and Sajen, the shield I posted is closer to this Borneo example from the Smithsonian Institute, than Erik’s Tengpai.

The Borneo shield is smaller in diameter, I believe their Chinese...

Where is this Shield from?

Can anyone please name the culture that this circular rattan shield is from?
Initially I thought the shield was Chinese but the size & shape makes me doubt that it is.

I’ve always wondered why some ivory hilted sandata survived unscathed, all intact with clean blades, perhaps these were the ones owned by the community members other than the soldiers and raiders.

There are symbols at the top that looks Arabic, maybe? There are wire shaped into butterflies on the stem.

They apply the lacquer thick and heavy on the Pendok, looking at the remnants of my example.
