Hi Bill
Very nice takouba and dagger nice quality. I think it is more recently made probably within the last 30yrs or so? Lew |

I don't know the age. The seller claims it is 19th C and this area is his specialty. IF it is, then it is certainly in exceptional condition. Whatever, it looks good or at least authentic, to me, though I don't have it in hand. I try to find quality first and hope the age is there also, but as you know age is a very difficult thing to place unless it has been in someone's collection for an authenticable (is that a word?) length of time. You don't see these often with the dagger. Will let you know more when I get the shipment. |
I agree,I think that the leather looks like its in very good condition and not too old.Still a very nice takouba, and an interesting dagger too.
I have heard that they were still making and possibly wearing these only a few years ago. |
I have seen old weapons with leather in very good if not perfect condition , it all depends on how it has been kept. An item may have been kept in the same drawer in a family house for more than one persons lifetime? Saying that I feel this is not 19th century and would have to agree that it looks post ww2, to me the biggest indicators are the metal pieces on the scabbard straps but it is still a very nice sword.
