SJ Dagger w/silver
6 Attachment(s)
This is another part of a collection I bought a few years ago. Recently made, but made by the descendents of the craftsmen who have been making pieces like these for a long time.
14" long. Still experimenting with staining. Using Ferric chloride. Some discoloration in the blade showed up under my lights, will buff down with 0000 steel wool and redo. Comments on the piece? Comments also on how I can make the staining better. |
More impressive work. Congrats.

Ian, Did this also come from Shah Jahans. Looks like it.

Nice dagger Bill. I thought the staining looks good in spite of you not being too happy with the discoloration. I assume you're not using tap water (chlorine) that may dull stain(?). Impressive pamor like patterns on blade (wengkon/udan mas(?)). Congrats.

Hi John , I believe this pattern is commonly known as Birds Eye damascus .
