A most unusual North African / Arabian knife / dagger for sale.

I beleive it is of North East African origin and influenced through trade routes between Africa and Arabian territories. A most unusual ethnographic personalised piece. Carved wooden Jambiya style waisted hilt with brass wire bound waist. A mother of pearl button to each side, brass pommel cap with three raised nibs, leather covered wooden scabbard with loop. A good sturdy blade with a hand chiseled design to both sides. Overall a very attractive and unusual / unique piece. Although these are my thoughts on the piece, I do beleive from what Ariel has noted about the design on the blade being Turkisk, it could well be an Ottoman jambiya. Honestly I do not know so I will leave it up to those who wish to add this to their collection.

maybe another

From what diggings I have done, this may well be a Jile dagger from the Afar tribe. I have found a number of comparative images.

thanks
