Please somebody help,
The owner of this 1871 Snider rifle has being trying hard to decipher this inscription, but it doesn't seem to be Arabic ... some say not even Farsi, Kurdish or Urdu.
The last hint he got was that it might be Afghan, but no consequent evidence came through..
Anyone in this Forum able to distinguish what language this is, and what is the text of the inscription ?
Thanks a lot in advance
Fernando

for the translation, I leave that pleasure to somebody else :o

transiltering that way is pretty iffy when it is only using the alphabet. Example Mohammad =Makmeed spelled the same but totally different

:p but .. also
- Mohamed or Mouammar : معمر القذافي, Muʿammar
and again ....
- Muhammad
- Mamadou
- Ahmed
- Mahmut
all that it's the same "name" following countries, dialects :o
sometime not easy ... excepted for experts,
that I'm not ..

Neither am I in any reach of the imagination. Dialects are hard enough but translitering across languages I just do not see. I am trying to pick up at least some egyptian arabic and it is driving my crazy. Moroccan arabic coffee= qawa egyptian= ahawaa. I have a friend in Tefrout who writes me in transliterated arabic mixed with berber, french, and english mixed in and often mispelled takes me hours to figure out what he is saying

No chance of being Afghan ... an Afghan name ?
Just my fantasy, caused by the transliteration Kandarlokardi  .
Ward, you have Afghan stuff in your sollection; nothing with inscriptions ?

No I have enough trouble reading arabic just have not had time to learning farsi, pashto, dari etc. I can understand some of the words because some are similar to arabic mainly because of the koran still being in arabic thru the years.

me ... what I'm mixing ... is .... the arabic from different locations
my mixture is some; Gulf/Saudi + Egyptian with some Libyan on top :D  :D
Algerians as well as Moroccans are not speaking what may be call "Arabic language"
but a kind of "pidgin arabic" at side of the Berber language ;)

at least it's a fun :p

3 = "three" in English but in
- Libanon = tlatey
- Gulf/Saudi = thalatha
- Egypt = talata

for my "ahawaa" I like it "masboot" :p
