katar construction question
I'm doing a bit of study on katar and I've been reading up on the older threads that discuss the various methods of construction, namely:
-solid 1-piece blade/handle -separate blade & handle attached via a peened stub tang -separate blade & handle riveted through the langets (usually firangi). I'm interested to know the dimensions of the stub tangs on katars constructed with a separate blade and handle/stirrups? is there enough material there to make a solid battle-worthy weapon? Can anyone share some measurements from quality examples? Are there any examples that show evidence of more than one tang attaching the blade to the handle? Thanks. |
