Sorry, but I gotta do it to you again: ebay #6527347309 Closed auction for a Mediterranian dirk style dagger, pierced blade, sheath that looks like a round-tipped knife blade; alleged to serve as blade concealment; pretty cool, either way.

Interesting indeed. We have seen similar before, see:

Mediterranean, but western side in my opinion. The two shown above had a real cutting edge on the scabbard and could easily be used as a utility knife. For more details see: Unusual European Knives

Spain, 19th century I would say.
Similar knives are depicted in Luciano Salvatici's Coltelli d'Europa, on pages 142 an 143.

Interesting that the spring is attached to the knife, rather than the sheath. Anyone seen one of these with a second sheath for the whole thing?
