This kampilan is from a just removed auction that i was following. Is a typical kampilan, fortunatelly I copied the pictures before auction was removed.

What are your opinions about this kampilan?
Thanks in advance
Carlos

Yes, nice typical kamp - nice to get the textile on it though.... :)

Guess the ending auctions are happening more and more?

It would be a plus to get it with a Munsala, but this one looks like it was added recently, like 21st century recent. It would be pretty difficult to wield it with the thick cord wrapped around the handle. Nicely carved hilt.

I wonder if the Seller wound the cord for the munsala around the handle for the pictures.

I can't tell if this sword has a staple guard or not; I think I see holes for one.

I have a kamp with a similar forging pattern which Cecil Q. dated mid 19thC.
The hilt shows much more wear than this example.

Older blade, newer hilt?

Yeah. More rare to see an older hilt on a newer blade.
;) :D

You know, Kai, upon a second look, you may have a point (like the one on my head :D ). It does look like curtain stuff I see at fabric stores here in the US.

The seller admitted the wrap/tassal was new in his listing.

I was also following this. Not closely though as I did not catch that it had ended. I think it's a nice KP, course I'm a bit partial to them. Pretty laminations, condition of the handle is a concern, I would expect a little more show of wear. Sends up flags that it is a older blade with a newer handle. I see that a lot.
