Hello Ben,

Have you any pic? I think I've seen a few Jungayan-style hilts completely covered with brass sheet. While there are antique examples with pommels covered in silver, I've always thought of the brass-covered examples as more recent renditions possibly made for servicemen/tourists...

A hilt completely made from cast brass would most likely point towards a Lumad (probably T'boli) origin. In this case, the blade could either originate from trade/capture or indigenous production.

Best wishes,
Kai

Hi Ben,

I remember once having seen a Kris with the complete handle cast in brass. Unfortunately I can't find any reference pictures at the moment but as far as I remember it was either from Borneo or Peninsular Malaysia.
And it had some age too...

Full brass handle I'm not sure, but brass full pommels have been documented. Pictures would be most helpful. Possible it could be Lumad.
