The Bigger Sized Keris
 

Dear All,
This "sword sized" keris is 67 cm long, or around 27 inches. Almost twice bigger than normal keris, and even bigger than normal balinese keris. But the "garap" (the work) is quite good, although maybe this "corok" (bigger sized keris) is a "tourist" thing.

Is your measurement just the blade or overall length?
I agree that the ricikan are fairly well executed, but i am inclined to think that this keris wasn't meant for any traditional "use", although i suppose it might have some ceremonial purpose. I usually hesitate to use the word "tourist" in regards to keris. In this case i am inclined to say that it may have been made with the collector market in mind as opposed to an ethnographic one. :shrug:

Yes, every detail of this keris is very well executed. And also the "kruwingan" (I don't know the English word of it), as if it is a good normal keris. "Tourist" thing, I mean that it was not meant for traditional purpose, but maybe for collector market as you said. From the proportion of the keris, and the work on details of it, surely the maker of this keris knows well how to make a good keris...
