USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION TO LOOK FOR AFAR JILE IT SHOULD BRING UP A GOOD POST ON THESE WITH GOOD PICTURES AND INFORMATION.YOURS APPEARS TO BE A NICE RECENT ONE, I HAVE SEEN THEM FOR SALE IN DJBOUTI AND THEY PROBABLY ARE SOLD THRUOUT ETHIOPIA AND ARE STILL IN USE IN SOME AREAS.

Followed this one, nothing to add to origin......do you know whether the design in the central panel of the blade is etched or chiseled ? The photo suggests recent manufacture or some one has overly polished the blade :(

Nice piece nevertheless :)

Here is one that just finished on ebay and went for quite a nice sum of money. I was watching this one but thought it to be more recent than the seller claims due to the lack of patina on the hilt and the quality of the silver work.
