On one of my mandau's the blade on some places shows a pamorlike structure.I didn't see at others that and don't know how to call it.
Maybe anyone of you have a mandau with this structure/lamination?
The mandau is north borneo style (probably Dusun)
very nice carved scabbard with silver bands.

happy newyear!!

Arjan.

( will list some nice tribal art next week on ebay)

Hi Arjan,

I am travelling for another week but you can find the name of the mandau with pamor (think it's mantekei (sp?)?) in the Coppens book.
Quite rare but you see them now and then.

dear Arjan,

Mantekei or mantikei is indeed the word that I know.
But you are my master in book-knowledge
I have one too,

Best regards,
Willem

Hi Arjan this one does not look like an mantekei but more like they used some thing (acid) to etch the blade

Willems one look like an mantekei
