Sangkuh related to Sangkoh?
A while back their was a discusion on a weapon perhaps designed off a bayonet known as a sangkuh. Recently I was looking through Traditional weapons of the indonesian archipeligo and found a weapon used by the Kalimantan, Sea dayaks known as a Sangkoh, could these two weapons be related? Now I know that book doesn't have perfect information but is there a possible connection? It says the sangkoh is a thrusting blade used in close quarters. Sounds to me how i would of used a Sangkuh. Does anyone know how sangkoh is prononounced? does anyone have one?
Sincerely, Eli P.S. Their is some breif information on how the Sangkoh looks if you would like to know. |
They don't seem to be related to each other.
Sangkoh is a long spear with flat spear head according to van Z, Ling Roth etc. Sangkuh is a short weapon, shaped like a triangular bayonet, as you described. Michael |
