Knives-unidentified group-need ID help
1 Attachment(s)
These knives came to me years ago in a group, but have never gotten to identifying them. It is an eclectic bunch, but you guys collect in these areas so hope for any info.
1. While this probably is some sort of souvenir, the needle point reminds of the flyssa, but then there are the Tatar sabers with these points in the Caucusus, 2.This one seems West African, the leatherwork 3. There seems to be Caucasian character here....the repeated sickle mark (gurda) decoration on the blade. 4. Spanish? the split (stacked) grip. 5. Bichaq? 6. Puukko ? 7. This one has the dot and circle decoration in bone grip which seems Balkan affectation per other current thread. |
Hi JIm, knife number six looks very like (except maybe a little bigger) the Mora sheath knives we used to buy at the ship chandlers 65 years ago for about
$6.00. You couldn't go fishing or sailing without one. :) |
Hi Jim,
No. 1 is Tunesian, no. 2 isn't West African but East African from Somalia. Regards, Detlef |
