Whatzit?

This found me at an antique store last week. The serpentine wooden handle is made as two parts, joined by an aluminum sleeve. The small blade appears irregularly serrated. I presume this is a tool that makes sense if you know what its purpose is; I presume also that it is from Southeast Asia. Can anyone enlighten me?

Hello Lee,
it's a rice knife, somewhere in Mainland Southeast Asia, can't tell you the exact origin but most probably Cambodia. Regards, Detlef |
Very nice;I also believe it is Cambodian or Vietnamese and it is for cutting rice.

Hallo Lee,
Are you not happy with our identification? ;) Regards, Detlef |
Gentlemen, I believe that you absolutely "nailed" it and I thank you. :) I had tried so many descriptive searches without success, but one you gave me the answer, finding more was easy.
