Roman sword ???
 

Hello I need a little help to find what sword it is and how old it is and what country. Have 57 cm long. The blade is very very old and look like a gladius. Thank you in advance

Very interesting. Do I see traces of pattern-welding in the blade?

I am not sure. If it ever started its life as a sword, it looks as if it was once stuck in the ground for a long time. You would expect the handle to have rotted away in that case.

But then again, it's hard to say.

What do you know about the origins of all the weapons you post, where did you get them from? Maybe that can clarify something.

One might think so looking at the base... as to whether it was ever a sword originally, that's the quandary... an old farm implement turned to a dagger?

I can't see any distal taper to the tip or the edge?

Looks to have been river found or dug, then newly shaped and rehilted?

The texture and corrosion pattern of the blade are most convincing for authentic antiquity. Gavin is likely correct and I also hold a suspicion that this might be a portion of a longer sword blade that has had this point re-formed later. The hilt is probably contemporary with the point, though I have seen wood survive better than the iron in a few cases - it just depends on where the blade had been 'resting.'
