Would anybody know where this one comes from and perhaps its age ?
Grip made of dark horn with brass. total 37 cm, blade 24,5 cm |
Hello,
I would say it is a shortened german "Jagdplaute" from the early 19th, maybe late 18th century. It is difficult to say more about this piece because it is just a fragment. Regards Robin |
Hunting dagger with incomplete and reshaped blade.
However, the blade doesn't appear to belong to the hilt. My guess... PS: Shouldn't this be better suited for the European section?! |

And what would be the reason for this 'irregularity' ... in the original version, i mean.

The " irregularity" is a decoration element.
A Jagdplaute is a sword and no dagger, so a big part of the blade is lost. In my opinion it's the original blade and belongs to the handle. For comparison: |
