The blade 's not mine. It 's a part of a private armory and its full photos is not autherized be published. Only this "partial" photo 's available.

The blade was obtained from southern Thailand in 1959. It 's likely to be a family or mosque hairloom. The blade 's similar to Parang Ginah, http://oriental-arms.com/photos.php?id=118 Only different 's the blade seems to be later construct. Its steel 's likely to be plain. And its design 's female form (no little horn on its spine). Its hilt 's made of wood and almost in the same shape with the oriental-arms's speciment.

It carries a mark which keep nagging my mind. The mark 's similar to arabic 's. Is there any other SE blade with similar mark under your possesion? What 's your idea about this kind of mark on SE blades.

It almost looks like a representation of a flag.

A second mark perhaps

Hi PUFF:

Interesting question. The large mark is unfamiliar to me.

I'm thinking there may be a second, partially struck, mark to the left of the large obvious one. I can almost make out the upper half of a human form facing to the left of the picture with arms outstretched. Is there something there or am I hallucinating again?

Ian.
