Moroccan pistol

Hi Guys
A Moroccan pistol to share Functional old lock and barrel but just a nice decorative pistol really long 46cm with a concealled dagger inside around 1900-1920 like some long guns posted previously by other members... another one is visible in the book Antique swords and daggers (a very bad book btw) Kubur |
Hi. Kubur
I would like to see other photos of the lock, from inside and from above. It catches my attention that when the cock is down, the cup cover does not appear, and likewise, you can not see in the plate the window of the guarantor that holds the cock. Affectionately |

From inside later for sure (the lock is working well with two positions) You are right there is no dust cover pan on this lock But it's not unusual, many Moroccan locks are like that. It's not a Dutch, Spanish or Portuguese lock but a local Moroccan lock with some age (19th c.) remounted on an early 20th c. pistol. warmly Kubur |
The mounts look like silver and bone.

Hi Kubur. How have you been ?
What an interesting Tourist/Display piece. And you are probably correct, an early 1900's piece utilizing the remnants of an original Moroccan lock and barrel. Actually, it looks like a lot of work went into this considering it was just a display piece. Just a styling exercise from the maker's imagination. The hidden dagger is clever. The blade actually looks half way decent (?) By about the 1960's/70's there was probably not much original hardware or enthusiasm to continue making these better quality tourist pieces. But every once in a while one of these earlier pieces shows up. These earlier pieces might have a certain collector interest in their own right (?) Reminds me of all the copies made during the Victoria Period in Europe. Rick |
