Identifying African Spears

My great grandfather brought home these African Spears on a trip around the world. I am unsure as to the details about them, or where he got them in Africa, and I've reached dead ends in the memories of my relatives. If anyone can give me details based on the pictures below, I would be greatly appreciative.

They seem to be wooden, thus not functional but rather ceremonial/souvenire.

You are correct, they are wood. An excellent start, any further details anyone can provide?

Many of our African collectors are in Europe .
You'll probably get some answers tomorrow . :)

I think ariel is right, these are souvenirs from a trip to Africa in recent times.
Nice looking timber though.

I have postcards my parents dug out from the trip, and we got correspondence from South Africa and Mombasa, Kenya, dated 1966. I'm guessing that from what others have said we can assume that these are souvenirs from that period from the Mombasa area. Now when we refer to souvenirs, are we talking about the same kind of materials you'd find these days that fund the tourism industry? (read cheap, moneymaking items) Or is this something with a little more cultural significance than souvenirs are today? thanks again for all the help from this giant novice!
