Just want to share it with you guys. . .

Nice Panday, but i don't know if i'd leave them hangin' around on the coat rack. ;) :D
Two very nice examples. I especially like the kris, but i would be very happy to make that my first barong. :) They both look to be in excellent condition as well. Could we see a close-up on the kris hilt? BTW, welcome to the forum. :) |

Thanks, Nechesh. . . |
Nice, but the display makes me nervous...
The barung pommel is usually a separate piece attached by pitch, sometimes they're loose, watch your toes and worse, damage to your nice sword |
Thanks Panday. I probably should have been more specific. What i was really trying to get a better look at is that silver kakatau pommel. :)
|
Great swords - congratulations. I was watching the bidding on the kris. +1 on the coat hook display.

Hi panday, nice pieces you've got there. As mentioned by other collectors,
it's best that you look into other hanging/mounting ideas...;) Look into this thread...for a myriad of ideas...:) http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showth...hlight=display |

Congratulations on your great aquisitions. Great looking silver kris.
Does your Jungayan barung have any ivory or bone inlays on the pommel? Usually these types of barungs have triangular and dot inlays of bone or ivory on the sides and decorative inlays on the pommels. Is the pommel made of kamagong or kalabao horn?  These are great swords and would be careful with the hanging method. |

Whoa! Those things are cool! I should have gotten one in Malaysia when I had the chance. The Malaysian ones looks a little different than that, though. Again, nice pieces!
|
Beautiful pieces! The barong looks identical to one that was here at the Louisville last month that belonged to Federick's Swords. If it is the same, I almost got it and it is horn and silver.

almost??? what happened battara?
|
I came close to getting a 18c scottish dirk, but got my brains beaten out at the auction (we battled for while and I made him pay for it :p ).
