Possible Bangkung?

Hello all,
saw this item on ebay and thought it might be a Bangkung.
If someone could confirm what it is would be much appreciated.
Overall length 27.5"/700mm
thanks

No doubt a bangkung. Nice example, just missing its cording and needs a little clean up. The "horse hoof" pommel style indicates it may have originated on Sulu.

Congrats!

This looks like a decent post-WW2 piece to me. Is the hilt removable?

I'd be interested in the max. thickness of the blade.

Please show the blade after cleaning and staining once you received it - thanks!

Best wishes,
Kai

Thanks Kai.
The item arrived a couple of days ago.
I haven't managed to get onto the rust as yet, waiting for the weekend for some quality time, Barry White playing in the background and some 0000 steel wool.
The rusting is kind of weird, different shades intermingled and blotchy in places.
I'm a rank amateur in regards to staining.
I'll get some measurements posted in the next couple of days.

Hello Kai.
I managed to get some measurements along the spine of the blade.
Hilt seems to be on pretty firm.

After some vigorous 0000 steel wool application found some what might be termed active red rust in different sections of the blade.

Darren, if you're up for it, here's a link that might help you put your handle back together:
