This one looks a kind different, there are more lines in the length of the blade, and is quit thick and heavy.
The length of the blade without the pesi is 36 cm. regards, Ben |
Is there a ridge down the centre of the blade, or is it more or less ovoid?
|
To my idea it's more ovoid, i had to look up what's the meaning of that word :D

Again, I cannot give a supportable opinion, its just your run of the mill average keris, but it does have north coast features and the gandhik seems to incline inwards at an angle approaching old Madura.I don't think I can go for Central Jawa, East Jawa. North Coast, maybe Madura.
|
Of course Alan, i can understand that, it's better when you see and feel it in real, but i am very glad that you give your opinion, otherwise i had no clue.
I have seen a couple of blades that looks somehow like this one, with the (grains) in the length of the blade, and they were all stated as Madura. Thank you for all you're time spend in helping me with these blades! regards, Ben |
You're welcome Ben. It only takes me a moment to answer questions like this, I've seen so many of these Javanese blades that its now become automatic for me classify , very often it only takes a glance, other times its a bit more difficult, but with the pics you are now presenting, its mostly pretty easy.
But bear this in mind:- my opinion could always change if I had the blade in my hand. |
