I have to let go ...
Hi guys,
I have to let go of some things. I know it's inevitable in any collection. :o So I'm first offering these items to the forumites before going on ebay or another auction site. Mail me if you're interested. The first one is an old Yaka sword. I found this one in a house clearing. The story goes that one of the family members served in the Congo at the beginning of the last century. He brought 'stuff' back home. Amongst these a few weapons (now also in my collection :D ) It's complete with its leather sheath. The blade is still very sharp. Total length : 56 cm. Asking price : 100 US $ (+ shipping) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...elding1630.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...elding1633.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...elding1631.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...elding1632.jpg The other two items will follow. |
Second item
This is a smaller piece, nevertheless genuine.
It's a dagger from Ruanda, probably Tutsi. The sheath and handle are of wood. At first, I though something was missing as the two-piece sheath had only some rattan binding at the bottom. But there's no sign of any other binding missing. There's a perfect fit. Peculiar about this dagger is the shape of the blade. It looks like someone took perhaps a spear blade and fitted it onto a handle. Total length : 26,5 cm Have a look : http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...elding1634.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...elding1636.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...elding1635.jpg My asking price : 60 US $ (+ shipping) |
Here comes a big guy !
Last item is an African club (a rungu) from the Gogo tribe in Tansania.
The shape is a bit different than the normal ones, but that's not the only difference. This rungu is huge and heavy ! It's the one on the left in the picture. Total length : 70 cm. There are some cracks, but the piece is still functional :p Asking price : 85 US $ (+ shipping) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...elding1639.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...elding1638.jpg |
The Yaka sword is gone to live in the States :)
