can someone give me more information about this Spanish dagger? Manufacturing area, approximate age.

Hi Chregu,

I love it! These are a favourite of mine, they used to turn up on ebay quite regularly, but not so often now.
It's Spanish, as you rightly say. Probobly made in the knife makng centre of Albacete. I have a similar one, as do others here, so hopeully they will join in to show you other examples.
Yours is known as a 'Punal type A'.
I would estimate its age as mid 19thC, but it could be as early as late 18th.

A desirable item for sure.

VERY NICE selection.
Here are my opinions on identification, from top to bottom (In my humble opinion of course)
Do you have the sheaths for any of them?

Knife from Canary Islands. Good quality inlay on hilt. date: late 19th/early 20thC (guess)

Punal type B. Probobly made in Albacete. Classic design with brass insert in blade. Later 19th century.

Corsican Knife of 'Vendetta' style. Difficult to date from your picture. I'd guess late 19thC.

Hello again !

After two years since my last entry on any forum, I am here again ...

What a marvelous spanish 18th Albacete´s dagger !!!!

A few months ago took place a nice exposition of Albacete´s daggers at the local Cuterly museum in Albacete´s city.

I have a couple of nice expamples, if I have a bit of time will try to post them.

In any case I do not like to see those away from home, so please bring them back here, I will be very pleased to give them all love they need...
