Need photos / images of south Philippines and Java for exhibit.
 

I am having a museum exhibit of south Philippine tribes and also one about Javanese keris. Same museum. A good friend fell in love with the Philippine kris and the Javanese keris.

She wants me and Anne to have a display that will "tell the story." Where are these geographically located and who are the people who used them?

I need hi res images of people with weapons also old maps. Images that will help tell the story about PI weapons and Java keris, tombaks, etc. Basic, but factual overview.

Help tell these places are located and what were the people like from Magellan (PI) to about 50 years ago. The images will be interspersed with kris, shields, armor, tombaks, etc from our collection.

I need images that are not copyrighted or that I can get permission to use for educational purposes.

I would like to enlarge several photos to life size and use these as backgrounds for actual weapons like in the images.

GENERALLY THINGS THAT ARE NOT OPEN FOR PUBLIC USE CAN NOT BE SAVED FROM THE NET SO I SUSPECT THESE ARE PROBABLY OK FOR USE, I WILL LEAVE THAT UP TO YOU. I WOULD THINK THERE WOULD NOT BE MUCH LIKELYHOOD OF A PROBLEM AS IT IS JUST FOR AN EXHIBIT AND NOT BEING USED IN AN ACTUAL PUBLICATION. PERHAPS OUR LEAGAL ADVISORS COULD COMMENT ON THAT FOR FUTURE REFRENCE. :confused:
MOST OF MY PICTURES ARE OF WEAPONS AND A FEW OF VILLAGES,ECT. AND A FEW WITH WARRIORS. HERE ARE 3 MORO AND ONE BAGABO.
STRANGELY I DON'T HAVE ANY PICTURES OF KERIS DAGGERS BEING WORN OR BRANDISHED, JUST LOTS OF PICTURES OF KERIS, I WILL INCLUDE ONE PICTURE OF 12 DIFFERENT SAMPIR FROM DIFFERENT INDONESIAN ISLANDS WHICH MAY BE OF USE. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR EXHIBIT.

for javanese keris & tombak try "abdi dalem" and "prajurit keraton" on google search images. but probably that's for more recent photos :shrug:

Thanks for the pictures. Like both the older pics (thanks Barry) as well as the newer one with the keris rider on the scooter (thanks tunggulametung).

Never put together an exhibit like this before. Since the pictures would not be published in a book and are strictly being used by a museum for educational purposes, I don't think that we would run afoul of copyrights.

Please keep the pictures coming.

Only snag I could see with copyright would be if the museum was charging a fee to view the exhibit ... but, if it is a non-profit organisation that could
affect the situation in a positive way .
