I need to clear up this translation on an old Sudanese dagger I have gotten mixed results so far. Dom can you help please.
Thanks in advance Lew |
Lew,
You broke an important rule!! :D :D For a translation you have to show the entire piece as well. Otherwise Dom will forget his tongue :p and we all wish to enjoy a good piece....... |

I posted this a while ago on another thread but here you go. :) |
Thanks Lew, it is always a feast to enjoy your marvelous pieces.
When i posted my remark i actually realized you did posted it in another thread, but you never can see these good pieces enough. ;) |
It's a name, the first is Mohamed abda "something" I can't make it out, maybe abdasab or abdarab abdaran. Also, numbers 1316=1898. Maybe something in the upper left too but I cannot tell.

let's go for the translation, or what we are able to read without knowing, or understanding the exact signification  on top .. at left 223 ??? under (middle line) ABDENNE MOHAMED eitherABDENNE MOHAMED (Abdenne could be (?) a name) last line, as well as Michael gave the signification, a date - 1316 either 1898 :( I feel that I bring more questions that I answer to questions ... :o à + Dom |
That's a most beautiful dagger of this kind I've ever seen!
Dreaming to obtain a similar one somewhere. |
